Lancaster Region Reliability Project

PPL Electric Utilities plans to build two new transmission lines and a new substation to meet increased power demand and improve the reliability of electric service in eastern Lancaster County, western Chester County and southwestern Berks County.

The project is needed because of increasing power demand in the area from residential, commercial and industrial customers, and to ensure that the electric delivery system remains reliable. It will relieve relative high loads on existing power lines in the area. The project will decrease the number and duration of power outages being experienced by electric customers in this region and will include the following phases:

Construction is expected to begin in 2013 and be completed by 2016.
